    1. What is Infocities

Infocities is the name of a project in which 17 cities and 35 leading industries and organisations collaborate to lead European citizens and enterprises to the new media. Demonstrations of applications and services are developed in six workpackages: education, health, transport, culture, electronic commerce, and city information. Infocities is based on the TEN Telecom programme of the European Commission's DG XIII.

The Prize Consultancy's Joost Smits is Deputy General Project Director for the Infocities consortium. An article about Infocities appeared in "Global Communications - Interactive '97", published by Hanson Cooke Ltd. The source of Figure 1 in this publication was not printed correctly. It should have referred to http://www.ol2000.nl/.
